After School STEM Club

We are pleased to be working with three schools in Leeds to deliver an After School STEM Club, for students in Key Stage 3. The club runs once a week for a period of 8 weeks in each school, and the sessions cover a wide range of subjects including air pollution, volcanoes, gases, emulsions, forces, medical engineering, earthquakes and virtual reality. Led by PhD students from the University, the club aims to give young people access to a greater variety of fun experiments which they may not experience in their science lessons, and the chance to meet real life scientists – demonstrating not all scientists wear white coats!

Feedback has been very positive, with students describing the sessions as ‘creative and engaging’, and the teacher commenting on the value of the club to the pupils as ‘Amazing linking the science we study in lessons to university and beyond.”

Although we're unable to expand the club further at this time, please contact us at STEM@leeds.ac.uk if you would like to find out more or register your interest if opportunities become available.
