Update on Event Postponements: (March 2020 – July inclusive)
Unfortunately, the STEM Outreach Team is postponing all upcoming school events and activities until the end of July 2020 due to Covid-19. This is in light of the recent advice from the UK Government regarding the Covid-19 virus regarding non-essential contact and unnecessary travel.
For some events taking place from May 2020, we will be providing online learning resources for students and teachers via the website – www.stem.leeds.ac.uk
We hope to able to honour existing bookings by delivering online content with current students and academics. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Online STEM Summer Schools
The STEM Summer Schools will be delivered in an alternative online format this year. This will involve online lectures and projects and give students the chance to meet academics and current students.
Applications for the Biological Sciences and Maths Summer School have now closed, but applications for the Food Science summer school remain open until Friday, May 8th. There may be additional capacity available for some elements of the Maths Summer School over the coming month.

Virtual Open Days
Following government guidance, The University’s June undergraduate open days will not take place on campus as planned.
The University is currently working to deliver a digital alternative to help you get a feel for the campus and find out what it’s like to study and live at Leeds. You’ll be able to take part in a range of sessions from subject information, to accommodation guidance and more.

‘ELECTRONICS EVERYWHERE’ Free Classroom Resources for Teachers
Target audience: For Post 16 Physics and Computer Science teachers.
The project is a collaboration between the UKESF and the University of Southampton, with support from the Institute of Physics and Computing at Schools. It is focussed on raising attainment in the A-Level subjects (Physics & Computer Science) and promoting Electronics. This is achieved by providing online resources linked directly to the curriculum and by training teachers.

The University of Exeter Educational Impact of School Closure Survey.
The Univesity of Exeter’s Centre for Social Mobility is conducting a rapid response project exploring the impact of school closures. They are calling for respondents from parents, teachers, pupils (over 16) and WP/Admissions staff. The outputs will be shared with OfS and policymakers.
