Taster Day

Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for Year 11 & 12

This taster day is for Year 11 and 12 students studying, or intending to study, Chemistry or Maths and another science at A Level, or equivalent. This event is open to individuals.

The Taster Day will be held on campus on Wednesday 29th June 2022 from 9.00am – 2.30pm.

Are you currently in Year 11 or 12 with an interest in studying Chemistry or Chemical Engineering at university? Join us for a taster session where you will discover new subjects, experience university teaching and meet current staff and students in the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences.

This event is free of charge to attend.

How to book

Book your place here. Deadline for applications: 11pm, Sunday 19 June 2022. 

To attend you must:

  • Be in in Year 11 or 12 studying, or intending to study a post-16 qualification in Chemistry and/or Maths.
  • Have permission to attend from your teacher and parent/carer.

If the event is oversubscribed, priority will be given to students who are currently under-represented at the University of Leeds, in line with our Access and Student Success Strategy.

By completing your application, you are confirming that you have teacher and parental permission to attend.

Where does the Taster Day take place?

The event will be held on the University of Leeds campus.

What are the planned activities?

You will learn more about the role of chemists and chemical engineers, and the differences between them,  experience a combination of university teaching styles, explore the campus, meet our students and find out more about our courses at Leeds.

Are there travel bursaries available?
