Cancer Research - LFoS public event: Back to the Future

Date
Date
Friday 28 March 2014

A voyage through 100 years of discovery, bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured

An exploration of the fascinating history of cancer research and a glimpse into the research of the future, including a theatrical re-telling of the story of Henrietta Lacks. Born into a poor black tobacco farming family in Virginia in 1920, Henrietta made an immense but unwitting contribution to the worldwide fight against disease. More than 60 years after her death, her cancer cells live on in research laboratories around the world, including here in Leeds.
