National Astronomy Week is a great national event for promoting astronomy and the night sky to young minds and to possibly inspire youngsters to become astronomers of the future!

National Astronomy Week is taking place from 1 – 8 March 2014, to celebrate the fact that Jupiter will be at its highest in the UK early evening skies for many years to come, making this time a great opportunity to observe this incredible giant planet in our skies.   Organisations throughout the UK will be organising events and activities to coincide with this, such as Observing Jupiter events, Star Parties, Exhibitions and Workshops about Jupiter and we would like to ask you to encourage your school to take part, especially if you are running any space topics.

A whole host of resources is available to download from the National Astronomy Week website, www.astronomyweek.org.uk, such as Lesson Plans, Jupiter Fact Sheet for Kids, a video about Jupiter.  There is also an “Ask the Expert” page, where you can submit a question about Jupiter to one of the UK’s leading experts in astronomy and their reply will be displayed on the website.
