Year 12 Biology Practical Assessment Days

Biology A Level Practical Days will take place on 14th and 15th May and is open to school groups.

Schools are invited to visit the Faculty of Biological Sciences and take part in a Microbiology and Molecular Biology practical activity in specialist labs. In addition to evaluating the effect of antibiotics on bacterial growth, and carrying out gel electrophoresis for the separation of DNA or protein, you will meet undergraduates and take a tour of the campus.

Students will be supported throughout the activities by their teachers, academics and student ambassadors from the Faculty of Biological Sciences.

Students will need to bring a packed lunch. Materials and resources will be provided.

Who is the A-Level Biology Practical Day for?

The Biology Practical Assessment Days are for year 12 students studying Biology.

All visitors must abide by our health & safety procedures. Lab coats, safety spectacles and any other personal protective equipment will be provided.

Where does the Biology Practical Assessment Day take place?

Activities will be held across the University of Leeds campus.

This event is usually over-subscribed therefore we ask that you only request the number of places you can fill. Schools that cancel at short notice, or bring significantly fewer pupils than booked may be excluded from future events.
