Beneath the City: A Discovery of Civil Engineering and Geology

Join us for 'Beneath the City: A Discovery of Civil Engineering and Geology' on Wednesday 22 October 2025!

'Beneath the City: A Discovery of Civil Engineering and Geology' is a campus experience for Year 10 students to gain an insight into Civil Engineering, Geology and understand how these subjects correlate to build sustainable cities.

What's involved?

Through interactive workshops led by academics in Civil Engineering, Geology, and Geosciences, students will gain hands-on experience investigating the ground’s role in construction, designing environmentally responsible structures, and reimagining the cities of tomorrow. This event is designed to spark curiosity, support STEM learning, and broaden horizons around university and career pathways in the built environment and earth sciences.

Who is this for?

Ideal for Year 10 students with an interest in geography, science, engineering, or sustainability, this day will give them an insight into studying Civil Engineering and Geology with access to academics, specialist facilities and undergraduate Student Ambassadors.

When selecting students to take part, we strongly encourage teachers to prioritise those who would benefit the most from this opportunity, such as students in receipt of Free School Meals, and those who are underrepresented in these subjects and at university.
